Positive Cases - Update

As you all know we have been incredibly lucky with the number of positive Covid Cases in school throughout the whole pandemic. However, unfortunately, we now have 8 confirmed positive cases in school. Most of these are in the same year group, however there are a couple of others in different areas of the school.

These children are now isolating, and all are showing only minor symptoms (if any) - so we wish them well and a speedy recovery. Due to the number of cases, I am going to recommend the following, with effect from tomorrow (Monday 11th October).

  • Complete lateral flow tests regularly on your children (at least twice a week).

  • If your child has any cold like symptoms (or generally feels unwell) DO NOT send them to school

  • If your child has any cold like symptoms (or generally feels unwell) complete a PCR test.

  • Keep the children off school until the PCR results comes back negative.

  • If someone in the household tests positive, then everyone else in the household should have a PCR test.

  • Our experience tells us that it can take a couple of days for the infection to be identified on a test. Therefore, if you have a negative PCR test, book another one for three days later.

  • If someone in the household is positive on a PCR test, then the rest of the household should do daily lateral flow tests, if they are not isolating.

  • Negative siblings of positive cases can attend school if they complete daily lateral flows, and book in a second PCR test.

We will be returning to a bubble like system in school for this week at least - to help reduce the risk of transmission. I would really appreciate it, if masks were worn around the school site, as this protects the adults and children.

The parent events that were planned for this week (and the Year 5 Class Assembly) will still go ahead as planned at the moment. However, please keep an eye on school communication, just in case anything changes.

School remains open and will continue to deliver high quality support and education to your children. Thanks to all the staff for continuing to work hard in making school as “normal” as possible for the children, and for their continued dedication and service.

If there is no further transmission and positive cases then school routines should return to normal the following week.

Many thanks for your continued support in this matter.

All positive cases (lateral flow or PCR) should be reported to school via win-headteacher@win.jtmat.co.uk

PLEASE NOTE YOUR CHILD IS EXPECTED IN SCHOOL IF THEY ARE WELL.

Stay safe … and help keep other safe
