Covid Update
Hello everyone..
What a busy day! Thanks to everyone for their patience, particularly Year 4 parents.
As you know we have had some positive Covid cases confirmed over the weekend. I have to report every case to the local outbreak team, who then give us advice on the next steps.
The advice, up to this morning, was to reintroduce bubbles, which we did and the school has had a complete deep clean over the weekend. Alongside other measures, we were confident that we could reduce transmission in school.
Today, following an increase in cases across Burton, I received further guidance at 11:40am.
The local outbreak team were very supportive and were pleased with all the precautions that we have put in place, however as an additional precaution they suggested a short “firebreak” to ensure that all positive cases were identified and were away from school.
Hence why Year 4, their siblings and the siblings of any positive cases were sent home. By requesting more tests, there was an increase in the likelihood of more positive cases appearing.
We have had no more unexpected cases today in school, which is good news. If this continues, school will open again for Year 4 and their siblings (if they are negative obviously) on Thursday. We will send a text to confirm this on Wednesday afternoon.
Please note that school continues to run as normal for the rest of the children, and they are expected in as usual.
We will aim to have some work on the website for all the children not in school by 9am tomorrow (Tuesday). Please note that this is to keep the children busy, if they are well enough to complete some work. If they are unwell we do not expect them to work.
Again, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support and understanding at this difficult time for all of us. Be assured that we are doing everything we can to keep transmission under control in school.
Covid is still everywhere, and the current situation is nothing to do with lack of care or consideration from the school. Unfortunately, this is a way of life for many schools currently.
We have been very fortunate up to this weekend, unlike other schools, disruption has been kept to a minimum and we have had limited bubble closures. We know our systems work, so hopefully this is just a blip.
Again thanks for your support in this matter - if you have any questions or queries - please do not hesitate to contact me via email win-headteacher@win.jtmat.co.uk
Keep safe …and help keep others safe.
