Friday 9th July Update
Sports Day Success
I know some of you are frustrated that you were unable to attend the children’s sports day (particularly when you see crowds at national sporting events), but the children had a lovely time and we were very lucky with the weather. The children took part in running races, egg and spoon races , hurdles, javelin and skipping races, and they had a great time cheering each other on. I am so pleased that we were able to go ahead with the sports day, for the sake of the children, as it is a lovely event to have towards the end of the year. Thank you for your continued understanding on why we couldn’t have all parents attend, let’s all cross our fingers that next year’s event will be able to go ahead with spectators.
Reports
Today you will be receiving your child’s end of year report. This will give you a detailed account of how your child is doing in school, and how well they have achieved this year.
In the envelopes, there is lots of other information regarding Uniform, school dates and free school meals, please read carefully. There is also a short questionnaire, we would value your opinions on the reports, so please complete and return to school by the end of the school year.
If you have any questions about the reports, you will be able to book a parent consultation phone call with the class teacher. These phone calls will take place on Thursday 15th July.
Please only book an appointment if you have a question or require further information from the report. Please phone the school office 01283 247570 to arrange an appointment, if one is required.
The plan is to have a parent drop-in early in September, so that you have the opportunity to meet class teachers.
Year 6 Leavers Assembly
I am delighted to say that we will be going ahead with the Year 6 Leavers Assembly this year. The assembly will take place on Tuesday 20th July at 10am.
The assembly will take place outside and will follow current Covid restrictions.
One parent for each Year 6 child is welcome to attend.
We will adhere to social distance rules during the performance and we will ask parents to remain in their seats throughout.
On arrival you temperature will be checked and you will be required to complete a track and trace form.
A text will be sent out on Monday to confirm who will be attending.

Mrs Smith, who works in Little Winners, will be leaving Winshill Village Primary and Nursery School at the end of the school year. I would like to thank Mrs Smith for her hard work in Nursery over the last couple of years and wish her lots of success in her new adventures. Thank you.

Covid Restrictions
I am sure that you have heard the government’s plans to remove all Covid restrictions on Monday 19th July. As this is so close to the end of the school year, we will be maintaining our current restrictions until Wednesday 21st July. There are a number of school bubbles that have burst locally in recent days, and there are a number of schools who are running on skeleton staff, due to them self-isolating. Winshill Village has been fortunate up to this point - with very few positive cases - I would like to maintain this track record. I am sure none of us want to be self-isolating at the beginning of the summer holidays!
Therefore, I am requesting that parents still adhere to social distancing on the playground and wear masks when on school grounds for the rest of the school year.
From the recent government information it looks as if we will not be running bubbles in September and the majority of Covid restrictions will be lifted. However, September is a distance away and we don’t know what the situation will be then. Therefore, I will updating my blog before the children come back to school to give you the most updated advice and guidance, in the meantime we will carry on as we are. Thank you for your support.
Last Day of Term
School finishes for the year on Wednesday 21st July at 1pm. There will be no Summer School this year, but the children will be set a Summer Challenge.
