Friday 30th April Update

Bank Holiday and Polling Day

Monday is the Spring Bank Holiday, therefore school is closed to all pupils. Enjoy the long weekend, fingers crossed for glorious weather.

Next Thursday (6th May) is Election day, and the Nursery building is being used as a polling station. Therefore, Nursery will be closed, but the rest of the school (Reception to Year 6) will be open as normal. Please note that the little red gate between Nursery and the school playground will be locked all day, for safety reasons. Please use the other gates. Nursery will be open as normal the rest of the week.

Absence

If your child is absent from school, please contact the school office to let us know why they are not in and when we can expect them back. You can contact the school office on 01283 247570. Please note that we have a duty of care and we will contact you, if we have not heard from you. Persistent absence and failure to keep school up to date, may lead to referrals to the attendance officer. Please keep us informed, if your child is unable to attend school.

Morning Supervision

There have been a couple of occasions recently, where children have been left on the playground before 8:30am. School staff do not supervise the playground until 8:40am, therefore it is unsafe for children to be left alone before then. If you child arrives at school before 8:40am, they should attend Breakfast Club, where they can be suitably supervised. If your child is seen on the playground before 8:40am, they will be sent to Breakfast Club, and you will be charged accordingly. Many thanks for your support in this matter.

Years 5 & 6 Residential

It is fantastic news that we have been able to organise a Covid Safe Residential for Years 5 and 6. We are very lucky to have been able to arrange the residential on the school grounds, and I am sure Years 5 and 6 are going to have a great time camping overnight on the school field! For those children in Years 5 and 6 , who want to take part, please pay the deposit by next Friday (7th May) and return the permission slip to the school office. All payments should be made by the half term break. The residential itself will take place Thursday 1st July to Friday 2nd July. I am looking forward to it, I am sure the children will have a great time. More information will be sent out, once numbers have been confirmed. Do not hesitate to contact me, if you have any questions.

Medication

A gentle reminder that school can not administer medicines unless they are prescribed by a doctor, this includes Calpol and cough mixture. If your child needs prescribed medicine throughout the school day, please complete a medical form at the office and hand in the medicine. Please do not give the medicine bottle or the tablets to your child to keep. Our “Administering Medicines” policy can be found in the documents section of the website.

Bed in Summer by Robert Louis Stevenson

In winter I get up at night
And dress by yellow candle-light.
In summer, quite the other way,
I have to go to bed by day.

I have to go to bed and see
The birds still hopping on the tree,
Or hear the grown-up people’s feet
Still going past me in the street.

And does it not seem hard to you,
When all the sky is clear and blue,
And I should like so much to play,
To have to go to bed by day?

Thanks for your continued support and understanding.

Stay safe … and help keep others safe.
