Friday 24th September - Update
Harvest Festival
On Friday (1st October) we will be celebrating Harvest. We would love contributions to our Harvest Display - so if you have any spare tins, packets or boxes then we would really appreciate your donations. All donations will be donated to the the YMCA and the Samaritans Foodbank - unfortunately, due to Covid we can not accept any fresh food. The table for donations will be outside the school office from first thing in the morning. Thank you in anticipation.
In the afternoon on Friday, Key Stage 2 (Years 3 to 6) will be going to St Marks to celebrate Harvest. Parents, will be permitted to attend however Covid procedures will be in place (see below). Please inform the school office if you wish to attend.
If you are a parent of a Year 6 child, the service will be very similar to their class assembly, so there is no need to attend both events. Any questions, please do not hesitate to get in contact: win-headteacher@win.jtmat.co.uk
Year 6 Class Assembly

Moans and Groans
It is completely natural for parents to want to moan and groan about school sometimes - we are only human and we don’t always get it right! We always try our best to communicate with you effectively, but in a busy school, not every message gets through to everyone. (Please make sure we have your up to date number for text messaging!). If you have a moan or groan, please send me an email, give me a call or have a chat with the class teacher or the office, please do not use social media to air your grievances. There have been some incidences of parents saying unkind things about school on Facebook - and in most cases there were issues that could be easily resolved. We are want the best for your children - we are as passionate as you are about their wellbeing and education - please be respectful towards the staff and school - who are working hard to allow the children to be the best that they can be. By working together, we can achieve so much more. If we get something wrong, we will work together to make it right. Many thanks for your support in this matter.
Fabulous News to Share
Winshill Village Primary and Nursery School has been awarded the Primary Science Quality Mark!
Primary Science Quality Marks have been awarded to infant, junior, primary, middle and special schools to celebrate their commitment to excellence in science teaching and learning. So far, since its national launch in 2010, over 4000 schools across the UK have achieved a prestigious Primary Science Quality Mark.
The Primary School Quality Mark programme ensures effective leadership of science, enables schools to work together to share good practice and is supported by professional development led by local experts. It encourages teacher autonomy and innovation while at the same time offering a clear framework for development in science subject leadership, teaching and learning. Schools that achieve PSQM demonstrate commitment and expertise in science leadership, teaching and learning.
Well done to all the teaching staff, it is lovely to see their hard work and excellence recognised in this national award. A special mention to Mrs Dickerson (our Science leader) who collated all the information together and ensured that we achieved the award. Fantastic!
