Attendance
As we can see from the numbers below, attendance dipped a bit last week. Some of the absence marks were from children who were late coming to school. If your child misses the registration period in the morning or the afternoon, then this counts as an absence. More details can be found in the Attendance Policy. Missing school impacts on your child’s learning and social contacts, if your child is well enough they should be in school, this is even more important due to the impact of lockdown. Thank you for your support in this matter.

PE Kit Reminder
On the days that children have PE they should come to school wearing their kit, with their school jumper over the top. We have a number of children, who are not wearing appropriate clothes for PE, please ensure that your child is wearing shorts, leggings or tracksuit bottoms. If you are unsure on which days, your child should wear their kit, please contact the school office or the class teacher. Thank you.
Governor Vacancy
We have a vacancy for a school governor from September.
If you can spare a couple of hours per half term and you are interested in how the school is run, and why decisions are made the way they are, then please let me know.
Being a governor is an important role - helping to shape the vision and direction of the school - as well as being a critical friend to me and the rest of the senior leadership team.
If you are interested in being a governor, then send me a email, expressing your interest. win-headteacher@win.jtmat.co.uk
Some people are cute, some people smart,
But to be kind, that takes real heart.
Kindness is the true measure of one’s character
To be slow to judge, and slow to anger.
Kindness is what the world needs
Kindness will bring truly great seeds.
Kindness is more than just a word or letters
It’s more than a paragraph, spun about by author
When people are in need and truly need a step up
Kindness can be better than a lily or tulip
When you are kind, people respect you,
When you are kind, people will want to be with you
When you are kind, no one can stop you,
When you are kind, you will be proud of you
Kindness is a gem in the treasure box of life, a treasure beyond compare.
The time that it takes to pay someone mind, is worth all the time in the world.
I hope you will grow and show other the kindness you want for you
Half Term
Next Friday (28th May) we break up for the half term holiday. We finish at normal time (NOT 1pm).
The children are back to school on Monday 7th June.
We’re still here, if you need us….
I fully appreciate that the pandemic has had a huge impact on many of us. From the frustrations of lockdown to the anxiety of opening up again, the mental health of many of us has suffered. Although, we still can’t have parents in school, like we usually do, please know that school is still here to support you if you need us. You can contact us via email, text, telephone or by popping into the office. I can’t guarantee that a specific member of staff will be available immediately, but we will get back to you as soon as possible. Therefore, if anything is worrying you or your child, please get in touch - we will do our best to solve any problems. As the saying goes “a problem shared is a problem halved” - so please talk to us and we will see what we can do. It is important that we look after each other. Thank you.
Good News!
I am delighted to let you know that Winshill VIllage Primary and Nursery School has been successful in achieving the Wellbeing Award for Schools. This is in recognition for all the work we do to support the wellbeing of our children, staff and families. Thank you to those parents, who took part in the audit and your positive comments. A report will be released in the next couple of weeks, which I will share with you in due course. Well done to everyone for their input!
