Parent Workshops
We were due to be holding Parent Workshops next week, however due to the increase in Covid cases in the community and staff absences (see below) we will postponing the workshops until after half term. Apologies for any inconvenience.
Staff Absences
Since we returned to school, after the Christmas break, we have had a number of staff absences in school (not all Covid related!) and this will continue to be the case for the next couple of weeks. Staff are covering for their colleagues, so that face to face teaching can continue. Therefore, it is possible that your child might not be taught by their usual class teacher on some days, however we are trying to be as consistent as we can. Please bear with us, as you have seen on the news, staffing is an issue everywhere. My aim is to avoid remote learning, but if there is significant staff absence we may have to return to this for specific classes. I will, of course, let you know if this happens. Many thanks for your support in this matter.
Water Workshops - Conserving Water
This week each class has taken part in a workshop (virtually) run by South Staffordshire Water. They completed lots of activities around the theme of conserving water. Below is an extract from an email sent by Rachel, who facilitated the workshop.
“I’ve been so impressed with how polite and well behaved all the children are and they’ve produced some great work. I have to give a special mention to Yr1 as they really stood out for me, they were working so quietly. A very mature class for their age, especially given all the ups and downs of the last two years. All the classes really are a great credit to their teachers and the school.”
Change in Isolation Period - updated Government Guidance
Anyone who develops symptoms or tests positive for Covid must immediately self-isolate.
From Monday 17 January, people who test positive will be able to leave self-isolation after a further five full days, subject to having two negative LFT results, 24 hours apart.
The day symptoms begin or you test positive is day zero. The next day is day one of your isolation period.
You can take your first test on day five. If it is negative, you can take another test 24 hours later on day six. Assuming this is also negative - and you do not have a temperature - you can immediately leave isolation.
If the result of either of the tests is positive, they should continue to self-isolate until they get negative results from two LFD tests on consecutive days or until they have completed 10 full days of self-isolation, whichever is earliest.
Anyone who is unable to take LFD tests or anyone who continues to have a temperature will need to complete the full 10 day period of self-isolation.
Keep safe … and help keep others safe
Miss Goodson
Spellbound by Emily Brontë
The night is darkening round me,
The wild winds coldly blow;
But a tyrant spell has bound me
And I cannot, cannot go.
The giant trees are bending
Their bare boughs weighed with snow.
And the storm is fast descending,
And yet I cannot go.
Clouds beyond clouds above me,
Wastes beyond wastes below;
But nothing drear can move me;
I will not, cannot go.
