A message from Miss Goodson

Dear Parents/Carers,

Friday was a very sad day for all of us.  Nobody likes seeing the school shut, particularly in these unknown, unprecedented times.  A school is not a school without the children in it and the staff will miss working with them.

This is not a holiday for the school staff, many will be still be in school supporting children of key workers or those children who receive Free School Meals.  When not in school, the staff will be working at home preparing for when the children return.  The staff at Winshill Village Primary and Nursery have gone above and beyond and I am very grateful for their support.

I just want you to know that our staff have been working hard behind the scenes to devise work to ensure your children still has the opportunity to continue with their learning at home.  More work will be uploaded onto the website every week.   It is important that your child continues reading as much as possible, particularly as we don’t know how long the school will be closed to the majority of pupils, however please do not worry about how much work they are completing.  Keep them safe and keep them happy.

In order to maintain contact throughout this period, staff will be phoning you once a week, to check that all is well and to offer any advice in completing work.  I will continue to send out messages via the school website, twitter and the text message service.  If you are in contact with other parents, please share any messages you receive, to keep everyone informed.

If you need to contact us, the school office will be open 9-3, for as long as possible.  You can also contact me at: headteacher@winshillvillage.staffs.sch.uk – I will be checking my emails regularly.

As soon as we have an official date to re-open, we will communicate this with you via text message, through social media, and the school website.

And remember: if you or your child feels ill and you want to know what to do next, please use NHS 111 online. Everyone should now be practising “Social distancing” – please encourage your children to do so, this means that playing outside should be restricted.

Thank you again for your continued support.  Please take of yourselves and I hope to see you all very soon.

Miss Goodson
