Information for Key Workers

Dear Parents,

As you will have seen on the news, the Department of Education and Public Health England have instructed schools to close to the majority of pupils for the foreseeable future. However school is open if parents are keyworkers.

Keyworkers include:

  • Armed Forces Personnel

  • Firefighters and other related staff in the Fire and Rescue Services

  • NHS Workers including doctors, nurses, paramedics and ambulance drivers

  • Police Officers including Community Support Officers

  • Prison Service Staff and Probation Service Staff

  • Social workers, educational psychologists and therapists employed by local authorities or the NHS

  • Delivery drivers working for a food provider or health care services

  • Carers working in the local community

  • Teachers, teaching assistants and nursery nurses required in their setting.

These categories may change as we are awaiting a clear definition from the Department of Education. Confirmation of your places will be sent to you by Friday lunchtime.

If you fit into one of these categories and you would like your children to still attend school, then let us know by 9am tomorrow morning (Friday). Please contact the school office (01283 247570) or email me on headteacher@winshillvillage.staffs.sch.uk to register your child.  Both parents need to be key workers to qualify for the space (not in the case of single parent families).

School will be open Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. (There is flexibility if you do not need your child to attend every day, just keep us informed). School will be run like a holiday club, so the children can start later or finish earlier.

The children do not need to wear school uniform and they will be provided with a lunch. Entrance will be through the school office.

Obviously, this is on the understanding that the children (and the household) are well, and not showing any symptoms.  School reserve the right to send a child home if they have a high temperature or a new, persistent cough.

I look forward to hearing from you.
