Year 2 Home Learning - WB 30.03.2020

Hello to all children and parents in Year 2.

What a strange week it has been! I hope you are all getting on well, staying at home and keeping safe.

I have spoken to a few of you on the phone and have loved hearing what you have been up to! I have also been checking the creative showcase on the website daily and have loved seeing your work! Seren-Grace you have been so busy with your writing about your family and writing to the elderly at a care home. Eden I love your rainbow! Harriet your frog is incredibly creative, I loved it!

Please continue to send in your pictures, it really has made me happy to see how busy you have been.

Children, if you would like to send me a message then there is now a button on the year 2 page for you to be able to do this.

There are lots of website links on the Year 2 page with lots of online learning games that are there to keep you busy. Some celebrities are also doing some free daily videos that I would like to highlight.

  • Joe Wicks, the body coach is doing ‘PE with Joe’ every morning at 9 o’clock. From speaking to a couple of parents yesterday this has been a great way of kick starting the day and ensuring that everybody is up and ready for a certain time. I totally agree with this and have been completing this daily too! Lets see if we can get a Winshill Village Primary School Shout out!

  • David Walliams is doing daily ‘elevensees’ where he is reading extracts from his books at 11 o’clock every day. We have read Mr Stink in class and the children loved it so I am sure they will really love listening to some of his other books read by the author himself!

  • Carol Vorderman has made her ‘maths factor’ website free during this period of uncertainty. There are some great maths lesson videos and activities on there that the children can access.

  • Oliver Jeffers is doing a daily story time where he will be reading one of his stories live at 6 o’clock every evening. He has written some great books so this a great opportunity for your child to have some quiet time listening to a book.

Here are some documents containing some different activities and home learning that your child can complete at home. It is up to you how much or how little your child completes.

I have also created some self-help maths videos that you can access from the Year 2 Page on the website that can be used to remind the children how to complete different arithmetic questions or help you to understand what your child is doing.

Thank you for your continued support in this uncertain time.

Stay safe!
