How effective is the school website in providing remote learning?

How confident do you feel in using the school website and the remote learning blogs?

How effective are the remote learning blogs in engaging your child?

How effective are the remote learning blog in delivering clear expectations?

What are the strengths of the remote learning blogs?

  • Feeling like part of the normal class and enjoying feedback and seeing work online

  • Daily timetable of tasks for children to follow

  • Videos and Powerpoints have been very helpful in helping myself and children understand the tasks

  • Learning being split into days

  • Easy to understand and access

  • Kind and upbeat phrasing. Easy to find. Speaking to the children directly.

  • Clear and concise

  • The remote learning is very important for children to keep a positive attitude towards learning and improving the skills needed for education.

Do you have any suggestions for improving the remote learning blogs? (The writing in italics is school’s response to the comments)

  • I think they should have more lessons via Zoom as the kids are lacking motivation. Feedback seems to suggest that the majority of children are very motivated to work. We will look to see if we can increase the frequency of the Zoom meetings. This week is the Severn Trent Water Workshop via Zoom and the next round of Zoom meetings for the classes will be during the week beginning 8th February.

  • Maybe work that can be done online or downloaded onto a computer to be completed and sent back for the teacher to look at. Work can be submitted via the class teacher email, so that the teacher can give feedback.

  • A little less work, its taking much longer than 3 hours to complete each day, with several children doing different work and a job, this is too much. The website reflects the work that is completed in class. However, school fully appreciates that it may not be possible to complete everything at home, please do not worry, do the best you can. These are strange circumstances for everyone. If you are unable to complete everything, just let the class teacher know and we will ensure that any gaps are filled when the children return to school.

  • Maybe offer some paper packs or sheets we can print off. This can be arranged - speak to the class teacher to organise.

  • Vlogs would appeal more to children who struggle with attention or reading. Staff are recording videos to explain different processes, which are uploaded on to the the class blogs. There are also recordings of story time for each class.

  • Maybe an alternative activity/simplified task for less able children. Please speak to the class teacher, they will direct you to the most appropriate work for your child.

  • The work the complete does not get marked and they are still not going over stuff that not all children have fully understood. If you submit work to the class teacher, via the email button, they will be able to give feedback. The blogs remain on the website at the end of each week, so you will be able to return to previous lessons, if your child has not completely understood the work.

How effective have been the class Zoom meetings been?

How are supportive are the phone calls from teaching staff?

Please add further comments with regards to remote learning. (The writing in italics is school’s response to the comments )

  • All is very well, it’s nice not to feel left out because their not in school. Great!

  • My daughters would prefer more worksheets to print and complete, they enjoy physically completing work rather than doing it online. Please speak to the class teacher, this can be arranged.

  • I think it’s better if the children can do their home schooling online instead of pen and paper. I have heard a lot of schools are doing this. Every school is working differently. We hope we have the balance of paper based work and online work right. We will have another look.

  • I think it would be helpful if important updates on the website could be sent out via text or email rather just being posted on Facebook, as it’s very easy to miss things. We use a range of communication tools: texts, phone calls, website, Facebook and Twitter. My suggestion would be to look at my blog on the website, which is updated every Friday. This will give you an overview of what is happening in the following weeks.

  • There is too much to be able to balance it with working from home and three children all doing different work. Do the best you can, we understand that these are difficult times. Inform the class teachers of what has been covered at home, so that any gaps can be filled when the children return to school.

  • Extremely pleased with all the work set. Thank you.

  • Thank you for all the hard work from the school. Our pleasure, we are trying our hardest to do the best for all the children.

  • You’re all doing amazing and he best you can in these unprecedented times. Thank you.

  • Online lessons are useful as it’s difficult to teach and work. Brilliant. I am glad that you are finding them useful.

  • I do think there is far too much work to try and do especially for parents who still work. The work on the website reflects the work is being covered in class. However, we do appreciate that circumstances might mean that not all the work can be completed. This is fine, do the best you can. Please keep the class teacher up to date, with what work is being covered at home (or not).

  • Couldn’t really see what was written on the whiteboard during the Zoom meeting. That’s a shame. Do not be afraid to inform the class teacher (at the time) if it happens again.

  • The information and work set is brilliant and very helpful. Great news!

Thanks to all of you, who took the time to complete the survey. We very much appreciate your views. We will take on board, many of your comments, in a bid to continue to improve our remote learning offer.

If you have any further suggestions of improvement, please do not hesitate to send me an email: win-headteacher@win.jtmat.co.uk. Alternatively, if you have any concerns or worries, please share them with the class teachers when the phone or contact you. Class teachers are also contactable via their email addresses.
