Happy Easter

Today, we break up for the Easter holidays. It has certainly been a strange term, with lock down, remote learning, children in school, zoom meetings and so on. Despite the craziness, your children have been marvellous. They have shown great resilience and have adapted to the ever changing situation with grace and determination - in fact, they have handled the whole situation much better than some of the grown ups!

It has been great hearing them laugh, seeing them working hard in lessons and watching them develop. We have spent the last few weeks, assessing where there are gaps in the children’s learning and on our return in the Summer we will be addressing these - through quality first teaching and interventions. We are back to school on Monday 19th April and hopefully the Summer Term, will be less disruptive.

Over the Easter holidays, step 2 of Mr Johnson’s roadmap will start. If things go well, step 2 will start on Monday 12th April:

Shops will open, including:

  • hairdressers and nail salons

  • Libraries and community centres

  • zoos and theme parks

  • drive in cinemas

  • campsites and holiday cottages

Fingers crossed, that the infection rate continues to drop and that we are able to take the next step to ‘normality’. It is important that we continue to remain vigilant, please see below for information regarding reporting positive cases over the Easter holidays and the importance of lateral flow testing.

I would like to wish you all a lovely Easter and I look forward to seeing you all again on Monday 19th April for the start of the Summer Term.

Reporting Positive Cases over the Easter Holidays

If one of the children tests positive in the first part of the Easter Holidays (up to and including Wednesday 7th April) then please let me know via my email: win-headteacher@win.jtmat.co.uk. I need to know any positive cases, as this will have an impact on other children and staff from school, who may need to self-isolate. After Wednesday 7th April, positive cases can be reported directly to NHS Test and Trace. Many thanks for your support in this matter.

Lateral Flow Tests

Thank you to those parents who are administering lateral flow tests on a regular basis. School staff continue to have two lateral flow tests a week, and will continue to do so over the Easter break. If you and your family are using lateral flow tests, then I recommend completing a test the day before the children return to school (Sunday 18th April). Thanks for your continued support.

See below for PROVISIONAL dates for activities throughout the Summer Term. Whether events go ahead or not, and how much parental involvement there will be, will be dependent on the Covid regulations, and what schools can and can’t do. I am optimistic that parents may be able to come into school again, towards the end of the Summer Term, but I will let you know in due course. As usual, events are subject to change and text messages will be sent nearer the time.
