Friday 25th June Update

INSET Day

A gentle reminder that school will be closed to the children on Monday 5th July, as the staff are having an INSET day. Children will return to school as normal on Tuesday 6th July.

Years 5/6 Residential

Next week (Thursday and Friday) is the Years 5/6 Residential on the school field. Please refer to the kit list that was sent out. Sports Day

Sports Day will take place for all children on Thursday 8th July, please send the children to school wearing their PE Kit on this day. If the weather is bad on the Thursday, we will try again on Friday 9th July.

Due to Mr Johnson’s extension of Covid restrictions and the rules given to school, we will NOT be inviting the majority of parents to the sports day this year. Apologies for the inconvenience and I know it seems unfair, when you see thousands of people together at national sporting events, however the guidance for schools states;

Schools have been told they should 'avoid hosting large group gatherings indoors for more than one bubble', such as assemblies, but outdoor events are 'generally lower risk'. The DfE says schools 'may consider' an outdoor event for a prom, sports day or leavers’ celebration that caters for more than one bubble 'as long as the groups continue to be kept separate' and once again groups are bound by the legal gathering limit of 30.”

Logistically, this would have been very difficult to organise, therefore we won’t be including the majority of parents this year. Our aim is to have more parent events next year, so that you can be more involved. Fingers crossed, that there is a change in restrictions.

However, we would like to invite Year 6 parents to Sports Day. This will be the last opportunity these parents will have able watch their child at a primary sports day, and the numbers involved will mean that we can keep to the 30 limit. However, there will be a few Covid rules that parents attending will have to adhere to. Please see the Sports Day information page for details. This can be found here. Thank you for continued support and cooperation.

The NHS are running a big push to get as many people vaccinated against COVID-19 this weekend, with a series of walk-in vaccination clinics opening across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. Anyone aged over 18 or over will be able to arrive without an appointment and will be vaccinated on a first come-first-jabbed basis.

More information can be found on their website at: Big Weekend walk-in COVID vaccinations available across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent (prgloo.com)
