From September...
(Updated on 27th July)
Yesterday, Gavin Williamson, the Secretary of State for Education, outlined the government’s plans for reopening schools fully in September. You can read this information here:
At school we will be devising a detailed plan and risk assessment for September, which I will share with you in due course, however below is some information that I can share with you now. Up to date Covid 19 rules and regulations will be updated onto the website by the end of August.
The new school year starts on Thursday 3rd September for the children, however the office will be open from Tuesday 1st September, if you have any enquiries.
The new Reception children in September will be in school either the morning or afternoon of the 3rd and 4th September, before starting full time on Monday 7th September. Look out for a letter confirming the timings.
School will be open for ALL pupils, and attendance at school is mandatory. All attendance procedures and policies will be reintroduced as they were previous to lockdown, including fines for non-attendance and lateness.
Children will be taught in their own classes as normal and each class will be become its own social bubble. This means that contact between the classes will be kept to a minimum to reduce the risk of cross contamination. We are therefore likely to keep the staggered break times and lunchtimes that we have used in June and July.
We will not be able to have large gatherings in school, therefore parents evenings and Christmas Activities will look very different to normal. If anyone has any ideas on how these might look, please share your thoughts with me via the “Contact Miss Goodson” button.
Doors will open at 8:45am. For Reception to Year 6, school starts at 9am, after this, you will be marked as late. School finishes at 3:15pm for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. School finishes at 3:20pm for Years 3, 4, 5 and 6. The Nursery afternoon session finishes at 3:30pm. Children will leave through the appropriate year group door. Please collect your child from Reception or KS1 first, before going to the KS2 door. Please arrive on time to avoid loitering on the playground. Gates will be locked by 3:40pm. Adults should adhere to the 2m social distancing rules whilst waiting for their chid - the markings on the playground will help you with this.
Children will be expected to wear full school uniform. Uniform is available to buy from Clothing 4 Schools, we no longer sell uniform in school. A reminder that school uniform is: Grey or black trousers, shorts or skirts; White polo shirts; Red sweatshirt or fleece and black shoes (no trainers).
Hot meals will be available from September, an up to date menu will be uploaded onto the school website. The children in Reception to Year 6 will continue to have three options at lunchtime; a hot dinner, a school sandwich bag or they can bring in sandwiches from home. Nursery children bring in their own packed lunch. A school meal costs £2.35. Payments should be made using ParentPay.
Breakfast Club will resume from 7:30am. The children will have the choice of cereals and toast, followed by a range of activities. There will be a slight increase in costs from September: £1.50 from 7:30am and £1 from 8am onwards. Breakfast Club will start on Thursday 3rd September.
After school clubs will be limited and restricted to certain pupil bubbles. Fae’s extended provision will still be available. Before and after school clubs should only be used if there is no alternative.
I hope you find this information useful, and that like me, you are looking forward to a greater sense of “normality” in September.
In the meantime, if you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact me, either through the website or via email: headteacher@winshillvillage.staffs.sch.uk
