Moving forward

On Monday, we opened our doors wider and invited more children back to school. We now have 120 children back in school, all being taught in their social bubbles. The children have adapted brilliantly to the new routines and procedures, I am very proud of them.

Of course, there are still many children at home. I hope you still feel part of the school community, by accessing the work online, contacting your class teacher, listening to the “No Limits” podcast and taking part in Zoom meetings.

Year 6 had a very successful Zoom meeting this week, it was great to see so many familiar faces. I know that there are more Zoom meetings planned for the Key Stage 2 classes, so please encourage your child to get involved.

We will be seeing more children in the first two weeks of the summer holiday for Summer School - more information about that will be going out in the next couple of weeks.

There have been a number of announcements from the government recently regarding schools. The first announcement was the extension of the Free School Meal provision through the summer holiday. We are currently in discussions with our catering providers about supplying food hampers to children on FSM over the summer break. We will not be providing vouchers. Again, more information will be shared with you, as soon as we get it.

The Prime Minister and the government have repeated their promise of getting all children back to school in September. Therefore we are planning on a return to “normal” from September, but I will keep you up to date on any changes, when more information is released.

In preparation for the new school year, please find the term dates for 2020/2021 here.

It’s a very busy time at the moment, but it is important that we all keep vigilant, to ensure the safety for all.

Thank you for adhering to the staggered start and finish times and for socially distancing on the playground.

Take care and stay safe.
