Happy Half Term

Dear Parents,

This will be my final blog this half term, so it seems an appropriate time to reflect on the past few weeks and to say a few thank yous.

First, I would like to say a huge thank you to the staff of Winshill VIllage Primary and Nursery School. They have worked tirelessly to ensure that; your children get a top notch education, that your children are happy and secure in school, and that the new routines are implemented to ensure that we are all safe. All the staff have gone above and beyond and I am very grateful to have such a dedicated and committed team.

All of us are living through unprecedented times. The pandemic has put strain and stress on everyone, but the staff have put aside their personal worries and focused on making sure that the children feel safe and happy, and that there is a sense of “normality.”

I will be honest with you, running a school in a pandemic is challenging. The last 8 weeks have been some of the hardest of my teaching career - and I have been teaching a long time! However, the last 8 weeks (and before that) have shown me how amazing the Winshill Community is. I am always impressed with how much the community supports each other.

Therefore, thank you to you all - the parents and extended Winshill community - for continuing to follow the Covid rules at dismissal time, for the messages of positivity and support through the website and through email, and thank you for your continued support. It is gratefully appreciated. Also, a thank you for your generous contributions to our Harvest Display.

Listening to the news, I think the Covid regulations will be with us for a while - if anything I think they are likely to get more stringent. We will endeavour to keep you up to date with the ever changing guidelines, so please bear with us. Please keep school informed with any Covid concerns. We have been fortunate, that we have not had a positive case in school yet. Our continued vigilance will help reduce (but not eliminate) the risk.

At the end of a busy half term, a time to relax. I hope you all have a peaceful and safe half term break, and I look forward to seeing you all again on Monday 2nd November.

Stay safe

Miss Goodson
