Year 6 Topic Home Learning - 08/02/21 - 12/01/21

Hello to my brilliant Year 6 class! I hope you are all well and keeping safe. It has been lovely speaking to you on the phone this past week. I have really enjoyed hearing about all the fantastic things you have been getting up to at home and all the amazing learning that is taking place. I know we have been home learning for a while now and sometimes it can be difficult to motivate ourselves but it’s really important that we are continuing with our remote learning.

Thank you to all those children who have sent me through some examples of their home learning this week. I am so proud of how hard you are all working, well done. I love being able to see all the brilliant work you are completing at home, this also allows me to give you some feedback and support you with your learning. You can see examples of all the fantastic work I have received on our Year 6 Learning Gallery page. Remember, you need to be submitting a piece of work to me at least once a week.

Speaking to some of you last week, we had mentioned that sometimes we found our home learning activities difficult. This is normal, remember learning isn’t supposed to be easy, we need to mistakes to be able to learn. I just want to remind you that you can contact me for support if needed, my email address can be found on the Year 6 class page and you can ask me questions or for some support when I ring your adults or on our zoom call sessions. If you are finding something tricky, please let me know so I can help.

This week is going to be our final zoom session before half term! This zoom session will take place on Wednesday 10th February at 1:30pm. I will be doing a Maths lesson and we will be focussing on the inverse. It would be fantastic if you could all attend.

Below are your Topic remote learning activities for this week. If you have any questions about any of the activities or want to share what you have done with me, my email address can be found on the Year 6 Class Page.

Physical Education (PE)

Big? Can I set myself goals and challenges?

For today’s PE lesson, I would like you to have a go at the bleep test. The bleep test is a fitness test, people use the bleep test to help improve their fitness. There are lots of different levels, the video will tell you which level you are on. The levels increate in difficulty each time, this means that the amount of time between each bleep reduces.

On the video you will hear 1 bleep, this means go. When you hear that bleep, you need to try to make it from one side of your garden to the other (ideally this should be done outside unless your adults are happy for you to do it inside). You need to make it to other side of the garden/room before the next bleep sounds.

I would like you to set yourself a goal. Which level would you like to get too? If you manage to get past level 4 that is amazing! I would then like you to see if you can achieve your goal. You might want to do the bleep test 3 or 4 times, see if you can improve your level or speed each time however if you do this, I would spread it out over the week rather than doing the test 4 times in one day!
