Year 3 Maths Home Learning - 18.01.2021 - 22.02.2021

Hello Year 3. It is hard to believe we are entering our third week of home learning already. You are all working incredibly hard and I am so proud of each any everyone of you. Our maths lessons for the next 3 weeks will be on time. Monday - Thursday lessons will be based on our topic, Friday’s lesson will have an arithmetic base and I will also set you a times table lesson. Remember to keep accessing TTRockstars.

We are also going to have a battle of the bands competition between Year 3 and Year 4 this week. The competition will take place from Monday 18th January till Friday 22nd January. You will be able to play as part of the competition between 8am and 5pm each day. The competition will finish at midday on Friday 22nd January and the winners will be announced on both Year 3 and 4’s Maths Home Learning Blogs 25/01/21 - 29/01/21. The competition will take place on TT rockstars.

Warm-up - Can you order these numbers from the largest to the smallest? Remember to look at the hundreds column first. If numbers have the same hundreds digit, then move onto the tens.

Warm-up - Can you work out what number I am thinking of?

It has 3 digits. The hundreds digit is even. It is greater than 3 but smaller than 6. The ones digit is odd and is greater than 5 but smaller than 9. The tens digit is even and comes in between 3 and 6.

Today’s arithmetic lesson focus will be on place value. Ordering and comparing 3 digit numbers.

Times Tables Lesson: 3 Times tables.

For your times table session this week I would like you to practise your 3 times tables. I have included the Percy Parker song to help you. Once you are confident, can you solve these calculations.

Now can you try these: You can partition the number into tens and ones. Multiply the ten by 3 first and then the ones. Once you have both answers you can add them together.
