Reception home learning Tuesday 2nd February 2021
Hello reception! I hope you are all keeping safe and well and looking after each other. I am really missing you and look forward to seeing you on our zoom calls or hearing about what you are doing from your grown ups.
This week is Children's Mental Health Week. The theme this year is Express Yourself. Expressing yourself is about finding ways to share feelings, thoughts, or ideas, through creativity. This could be through art, music, writing and poetry, dance and drama, photography and film, and doing activities that make you feel good. In our blog this week, you will find some activities to support your mental health and wellbeing that allow you to express yourself. I hope you enjoy these activities - remember to send in any pictures so I can see what you have been doing and share them in our class gallery.
Well being:
Choose some of the well being activities ( or screen break activities) that sound good fun, or think of something different that you would like to do.
Phonics:
Look at the sound mat and say the sounds we have learnt so far (up to oa).
Listen to our new sound oo
Read these oo words on the phoneme frame and decide if they are an oo word as in moon or an oo word as in book.
Read the simple sentence and write a caption for the second picture.
Literacy:
Map the story of the 3 little pigs with Oak National Academy and re-tell the story.
If you have any versions of the story of the 3 little pigs read them with your adult.
Maths:
Here is our Maths Key Vocabulary Glossary for Reception. This can also be found on our Class Page under the Maths Heading. The glossary will outline the key vocabulary we use in our year group as well as providing a definition and example for each
Make some simple addition questions using a die, addition & equals signs on card and some simple pig counters (print out or use anything else to represent the pigs!) Roll the die, count out that amount of pigs and match a number to it, repeat and find the total amount of pigs.
Tuesday’s maths lesson with Oak National Academy.
Topic: The three little pigs
Make masks or story spoons for the three little pigs story and re-tell the story.
Draw a simple pig outline on scrap card, punch holes around the edge and then use wool or string to thread around it.
Physical development:
Join in with the just dance moves: Can’t stop the feeling
Just dance gummy bears
ICT:
On Tuesday the 2nd February it will be Internet safety day. In these times, with children accessing the internet more than ever, it is important to reinforce internet safety from a young age. Chatting to your child about only talking online to people they know “in real life”, telling you if there is something that they see or hear that makes them feel uncomfortable and ensuring that you are monitoring what they view online, will all help to keep them safe.
Play this numbers game finding 1 more or 1 less.
Story:
The three horrid pigs and the big friendly wolf.
