Reception home learning Thursday 4th March 2021
Today is World Book Day. Our whole day will be dedicated to celebrating reading and our love of books. Together, with the rest of the John Taylor Multi-Academy Trust (JTMAT), we will be taking part in shared activities, ideas and competitions. We will be sharing pictures of activities completed both in school and at home. Please visit the JTMAT World Book Day website. Click here to access. Be sure to send photographs of your work to your teacher so that we can share on the JTMAT website and enter the competition! Send all pictures and work to your teacher’s email address in the usual way.
On the JTMAT World Book Day website, you will be able to see staff from our school and other schools in our MAT, sharing their favourite books with you. You are able to access your World Book Day voucher here too, just click on the image below.
Here is Thursday’s home learning. As our learning all this week is about the story of ‘What the ladybird heard’, I thought that one of the activities we could join in with on World Book Day is to make some of the characters from the story from toilet rolls (or any other tube for that matter!!) I would love you to send me photos of your creations; maybe the lovely ladybird or one of the farm animals, maybe even Lanky Len or Hefty Hugh?
Phonics:
Look at the different phase 3 sounds on the mat. Can you say a word for each of the phonemes? Can you think of twp words for each?
Watch the bbc bitesize clip for air and join in with the activities.
Can you read these air words and decide if they are real or fake?
Play phonics frog on phonics bloom (Choose air words)
Write a sentence using air words. (Maybe Claire has fair hair.)
Literacy:
Maths:
Thursday’s maths lesson with Oak National Academy on number to 15 .
Count out 10 objects that could represent ladybirds. Use these subtraction flashcards with the counting objects to find the answers.
Topic:
Make ladybirds by painting stones or use milk bottle tops.
Imagine you are a bird- Imagine you are a bird flying around Winshill. What would you see? Houses? Roads? Shops? Lamp posts? Cars? Draw pictures of the things you would see.
Physical Development:
Make your own ladybird with hole punched wings.
Play racing and chasing games with your family. Pretend to chase after the robbers in the story of ‘what the ladybird heard’.
