Science.
We are learning about light for this half term. Before completing todays topic lesson, if possible discuss with someone what you already know about light.
Today we are looking at the use of reflective materials. Click on the link which will direct you to BBC Bitesize. Where a video will explain the uses of reflective materials and how reflective material works.
Setting the scene: During the winter months, a pupil walks to school early in the morning when it is dark. The pupil has to cross several roads, where they make sure they cross the road safely. However, they currently have a black bookbag which they carry to school, and they are looking at making their own bookbag and they would like some designs to help make the bookbag reflective,.
Your task:
Based on the information you have learnt in the video. Can you design a bookbag which will be reflective?
Things to consider:
What colour the bookbag will be? Think about what colours reflect the most light.
Will the bookbag have retroreflective strips of material on it?
Feel free to send your designs to me using my email address. Some fantastic designs will be posted on the year groups photo gallery.
Story Time:
As you may be aware, we are unable to read some books to you online due to publishing rights, However, David Walliams has kindly granted permission for his books to be used online by teachers. Over the next few weeks, we will record ourselves reading chapters to you, like we would do if you were with us in the classroom.
We have chosen to read The Midnight Gang.

HIstory.
In History we are going to be learning about the Romans.
The Romans were around in 753BC. We are currently in the year 2021 AD. Here is a video to help explain how these dates can be put in order.
With a timeline, dates are added of any major events.
A timeline simply puts the dates in order from the earliest to the present day.
Your task:
Can you create a timeline with dates and events.
On the timeline you need to include the Romans in 753BC.
Then you may consider any of the dates listed below:
Great fire of London -1666.
Start of WW2 -1939
Your birth year.
Any other years which you chose need to be labelled with the event that happened that year.
Make sure you use a ruler to draw your timeline, as the line needs to be straight.

Task: Work through the PowerPoint and decide whether each scenario is cyberbullying or not.
Art:
We are going to making salt dough. Salt dough can be used to create models like the Roman sculptures. This week the aim is not to create a model, but to practice the techniques of kneading, rolling and pinching the dough.
Here is a video which explains what equipment you need as well as how to make your salt dough.
Ingredients: water, salt and flour.
Do not worry with what you decide to create your salt dough into. It is your choice. Focus on the techniques of kneading, rolling and pinching the dough.
Whatever you decide to create with your salt dough, feel free to send me your finished salt dough product. I look forward to seeing what you create!
