Reception home learning Monday 18th January 2021
Hi everyone! I hope you are all staying safe and keeping well. I have been really pleased that pictures of the work that you are doing at home have been sent to me, I have shared these in our Reception gallery page. Well done to Rex, Isabelle, Verity, Belle Thomas and William for all their hard work and to their grown ups for sharing it!
I have decided to change the format of my weekly blog so that I the work for each day is all together. I have decided to try to keep home learning inline with what is being taught in school. As a result of this you will need to check the blog each day to see what work has been set for any particular day.
Literacy:
Write a speech bubble for some who helps us. Your child can draw a picture of the person who helps us and then write what they might say. It can be as simple as “I can help you”. There are also some examples to print out here if you prefer.
Read these simple sentences about people who help us.
Phonics:
Listen to the phase 3 sounds we have been learning and join in with the video below.
Our new sound is ai, the sound in the middle of the word rain. Look at the following words on the phoneme frame, sound them out and blend the sounds to read the words.
How many of the ai words can you read in 1 minute? Can you beat your score 2nd time round?
Write down 3 words with the ai sound in them.
Read these sentences with the ai sound in them.
Maths:
We follow a daily scheme in maths and the Oak national academy follow the same scheme online. Click the link to find Monday’s maths lesson.
Linked to our topic on people who help us, can you investigate different ways to represent the number 9 (999). This might be with numbers, objects, fingers, words etc.
Topic: People who help us
Make a stop sign for a lollipop man or lady.
If you have any lego (or other construction sets) build an emergency vehicle.
If you have any dressing up costumes for people who help us, encourage the children to play imaginatively, role playing going to visit the doctor, dentist, vet etc.
Use any re-cycling materials to make a fire engine.
