Year 6 Easter and Home Learning - Week Beginning 06.04.2020
Year 6! It is true to say that you are missed. I have enjoyed speaking to some of you this week and I have been happy to hear that you have all been able (and willing) to access the website and complete the work that has been set.
I have also thoroughly enjoyed seeing the work you have been doing at home, I have been very proud, looking at the exciting science (Alex) and the AMAZING drawings (especially Lucas’s dragon, though all of the drawings are fab) that have been posted. Layla, you are doing so much brilliant work!
Please remember to post anything you are especially proud of so that we can all share in your brilliance!
Over the Easter period, if you choose to complete school work, please continue to work on the White Rose Maths concerning angle. I will post some links to Nrich activities you may wish to complete if you need more maths (there is always time for more maths!).
As the above is linked with triangles, I have also linked to the Maths dictionary for kids page relating to triangles and added a crib-sheet relating to triangles that may help.
The ‘Strange new world topic is broad enough for you to continue. Please remember to work on your spellings, I know Neveah’s mum said this is an area they are spending some time on. also remember those key year six writing content areas. there is plenty out there to support you if there is an area from the lists posted in the last Blog if you don’t understand something. You can also contact me through the school site and I can direct you to materials that will help.
I posted yesterday about the new Harry Potter website, but if you are not a fan of Harry Potter, please make sure that you are continuing to read something that you enjoy.
Linking in with the strange new world topic, It got me thinking about animals and their adaptations. I will add a link to a PowerPoint concerning some of the strange ways animals on our planet have adapted to their habitats. These adaptations have come about due to evolution over long periods of time.
I will add a link to a document suggesting work surrounding Charles Darwin, a famous scientist who spent many years of his life observing and investigating Evolution. Feel free to complete some of the suggested activities or complete your own research on him and /or another Evolution Scientist Alfred Wallace who was studying the same thing, at the same time, only further away (so his ideas had longer to travel back to London).
In addition to this work, you may wish to complete some work around the adaptations of animals on your own planets, why are they adapted in the ways they are?
Finally, please see a list of possible Easter activities that you could complete. Miss Twigger has put a link to the activities in more detail in her Blog.
