Year 3 Easter and Home Learning - Week Beginning 06.04.2020
Good morning to my amazing Year 3 class. I hope that you are all well and staying safe during this difficult time. It was lovely talking to some of you this week, hearing about all the things you are doing at home and how you are engaging with the work that has been set. It is great to see that Scarlett and Ruby have been working hard on their fractions this week. Ben your picture of me is fabulous, you know how much I love books and reading. Ruby, your lasagne looks delicious, when we get back to school you will have to give me the recipe.
Remember to keep uploading your fabulous work onto the Home Learning Showcase and it may be you featuring in the next class blog.
Lillie, Scarlett, Grayson and Maci I enjoyed reading your messages this week, keep sending them in as it is lovely to hear from you. Maci and Grayson unfortunately I am unable to tell you when we will be returning to school, however please be reassured that I am here to support you through this strange time in anyway I can.
Here is you home learning for the next two weeks. I have included some Easter activities too.
English:
As you know our topic this term has been Ancient Egyptians. For English this week I would like you write a non-chronological report about them. Remember a report provides you with information about a specific topic. You can record this in anyway you like e.g. a poster, powerpoint presentation or as a written report. You should plan your report first - I have included an example of a plan that you can use if you wish. Remember the key features you will need to include:
Heading
Subheadings - saying what each paragraph is about.
Paragraphs - each should be about a different aspect of the topic.
Facts
These are additional features that you may wish to include:
Pictures or diagrams which can have labels or a caption to go with them.
Did you know box - these should be individual facts that grab the readers attention.
Glossary .
Maths:
This weeks maths activity is taken from the White Rose home learning packs.
Challenge: Can you complete these calculations?
109 + 152 = 855 - 347 = 183 + 218 = 558 + 222 =
216 + 285 = 615 - 475 = 369 - 131 = 308 + 403 =
579 + 429 = 409 + 419 = 627 - 155 = 715 - 227 =
864 + 119 = 127 + 867 = 236 + 746 = 179 + 401 =
101 + 799 = 107 + 704 = 444 + 557 = 922 - 878 =
Easter Holiday Activities:
Please remember these are just suggestions and you should not feel under any obligation to complete them.
Can you design an Easter Egg? It can be as bright and as colourful as you like using whatever materials you have in the house. Here is a link to a website with some ideas to get you started. Happy creating and I look forward to seeing some of them in the home learning showcase.
Make a tally chart of the different plants and animals that you see when out on your daily walk or in your garden. Can you classify them into vertebrates and invertebrates?
Plant some seeds. Maybe you could keep a diary to show how they change each week by drawing a picture or taking a photo. You could even use a ruler to measure the height once it begins to grow.
Bake a cake (I know it is difficult to buy flour at the moment - I am having the same trouble) and decorate it.
Play a board game.
Have a movie night - let me know what you watch by dropping me a message through the website.
Remember Monday is officially the beginning of the Easter holidays so please take the time to do things as a family and enjoy spending time together. If you have any questions or just want to say hello please send me a message over the website, the link is on our class page.
Look after each other and stay safe. I hope you all have an ‘eggcellent’ Easter.
Mrs Dickerson
