Reception home learning week beginning 6-4-20
Reception children and parents it sounds like you have all had busy weeks and are doing some fantastic home learning, WELL DONE! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!. It is lovely to see pictures of the things you have been doing and also the messages you have been sending in, so please keep them coming.
I am really trying to think of activities that do not require you to print out worksheets as I am aware many of you do not have printers at home. If you come across any ideas for activities that you think others may wish to do please share these with me via the web page and I can then pass them on.
Maths activities:
Use some of your cardboard re-cycling to create a set of numbers (up to 20) Ask the children to write the numbers on them using the number formation examples on the Reception page, useful documents area.
Choose a number card and count out the correct number of objects to match.
Choose 2 number cards, count out the correct amount of objects, then compare the 2 groups. Which has more? Which has less?
Choose a number card. Can the children say the number 1 more or 1 less?
Order the numbers to 10 or 20.
Choose 3 number cards. Can the children put them in order smallest to largest? Largest to smallest?
Choose 2 number cards below 10 to add together using objects to help.
Create repeating patterns using beads, buttons, pompoms, pasta shapes; anything that can be used to repeat a pattern.
English activities:
Go on a treasure hunt in your garden or around your house finding something you see, smell or touch for every letter of the alphabet. You can use the alphabet sheet here if you like.
Chalk a hopscotch grid and use tricky words instead of numbers. Children have been exposed to tricky words from phases 2,3 and 4. Tricky words in phases
Use water and a paintbrush to paint phase 2 and 3 phonemes (sounds) on the floor. Can they think of words with that phoneme in? e.g oo in boot, ow in cow, ee in sheep.
Use re-cycled cardboard to create a set of phase 2 and 3 phonemes. (See sounds mat in useful documents section) Create words using the cards. Children can make real or fake words.
Using a collection of objects: play ‘I spy with my little eye a… p-e-g’ Take turns with the children to sound out the different objects. (Objects such as c-ar, c-u-p, c-ow, sh-ee-p) Can they write a list of the objects?
Write about the things they can see/ hear in the garden or on a walk outside.
