School Closure due to Covid Outbreak
Saturday 6th March 2021
Dear Parents,
This is a very difficult letter to write, but I am afraid I am going to have to close the school to all pupils next week.
This is because we have had three more separate positive Covid cases in school, all affecting different bubbles. It is important to note, that these cases were not transmitted in school. The cases involve siblings, which is why so many bubbles would be affected.
Due to the self isolation rules, this would mean that I do not have enough staff to teach those children who would be returning on Monday. Therefore, we will be extending the remote learning for another week.
School will undertake a deep clean next week. The week’s closure will also act as a “Fire break” to halt any further transmission around school, and avoid us bursting more bubbles.
We have done so well as a school - having no positive cases for a year - however all our safety is paramount and therefore I am following guidance by closing the school.
Children who have been attending school, since Christmas, should self-isolate for 10 days from the point of contact (from Friday 5th March) . If they show any symptoms they should book a Covid test. Remember, you can go for Lateral Flow Tests at any point to see if you are positive, regardless of whether you have any symptoms. (The positive cases in school have been asymptomatic!).
There will be remote learning uploaded onto the website for the children to complete on Monday morning. There will be Zoom meetings for each of the year groups - dates and times will be sent out on Monday. Thank you for your patience.
School will reopen to ALL pupils on Monday 15th March. (Please refer to Friday’s blog for all our precautions.) Unless they test positive in the meantime, then it will be 10 days from their positive result or the onset of symptoms.
I apologise for any inconvenience caused and I thank you for your continued support in this difficult matter.
Please do not hesitate to contact me via win-headteacher@win.jtmat.co.uk if you have any questions or queries. (The school phone will not be answered this week, as there will be nobody in the office!).
Together, we will get through this and I appreciate all the support and kindness.
Stay safe … and help keep others safe.
Miss Goodson
