Over the last 12 months I have felt reassured by the strong leadership demonstrated through the pandemic - I always felt informed.
I really enjoy reading the weekly blog.
Small things such as Miss Goodson greeting all children each morning by their names shows the warmth and personal interest that the school has for each child.
Our daughter is really happy and can't wait to go to school each day. Just keep up the good work, we really appreciate your efforts.
The last 12 months have been a very difficult time for all the staff, children and parents. I would like to say a big thank you to Miss Goodson and her team for all their hard work thoughout the school.
I had some concerns which the teacher addressed - having a clear plan on how she was going to support my child - I felt reassured.
Having moved here from another primary, I can really see a difference. My child has fun as well as improvements in Maths and English.
What would you like to see improved? Your comments…
Up to date menu - The up to date menu can be found on the website. Any changes are texted out. There have been some last minute changes due to the catering company having difficulty getting particular ingredients, but this has been minimal.
A little more information about reading bands for the children - I have asked Mrs Claxton to include this in her workshops this term.
I would like to see more of what my child is doing at school - This has been very difficult - and continues to be so - due to the Covid pandemic. We have had to restrict parents involvement in school over the last 18 months, but this is slowly increasing again. We had “Meet the Teacher” in September and there will be a parents evening just after half term.
More choice of food at breakfast club - It is getting the balance right isn’t it? For only £1.50/£1 we are restricted on what we can offer. However, the children do have a choice of bagels, toast, a range of cereals and sometimes pancakes or waffles along with a selection of drinks. For a wider selection we would need to increase prices, however I will keep an eye out and see if there is anything else we can add.
Portion sizes of lunches - I will look into this and double check that portion sizes are proportionate to the age of the children.
When a child gets into trouble and leads to punishment this should be communicated with parents - School policy is to let parents know if a child gets a red or yellow card, this may be via a phone call or a text message. If this hasn’t happened, I apologise, and hope to rectify the situation.
Feedback in the early weeks would have aided transition into Reception - In normal times, there would be a lot more informal chat between the class teachers and parents at the end of the day, giving feedback about the child’s day. Unfortunately, due to the Covid pandemic, staff are minimising the time they are outside with parents. Hopefully, things will improve, as the pandemics disappears. If you have any questions about your child’s day, do not hesitate to contact school via phone or send me an email and I can pass the message onto the class teacher.
Swimming lessons start earlier in Year 1 or Year 2 - Swimming is only a requirement for Key Stage 2 (Years 3 to 6) in the National Curriculum. Which years in Key Stage 2 swim is up to the school, but the aim is to get all children swimming 25m by the end of Year 6.
I would like to be more informed of progress or issues with my child - As mentioned above, if there are any issues in school with your child, then you should receive a phone call from school. In terms of progress, there was the end of year report, the “Meet the Teacher” session in September and there will be a parents evening just after half term. In normal times, you would be able to chat more informally with the class teacher on a regular basis, however the pandemic has reduced our ability to do this somewhat. Hopefully, as things improve, the informal chats will return, and you will feel that you have regular updates.
Bullying. - Without more details, it is difficult to comment. However, we have had no reported bullying events in school for a while. Any name calling or falling out issues are dealt with quickly. Children are very open, and tell staff when there has been an issue for them on the playground. If you believe your child is being bullied, please let me know. It’s not something I tolerate - I believe that school should be a safe and happy place for all the children, I need to know if this is not the case!
There could be better communication between feeder school regarding pick up times. - We do not have a feeder school. If you have children attending different schools it is parental responsibility to ensure arrangements are made at drop off and pick up times.
Thanks for taking the time to complete the questionnaire. Much appreciated.
Thanks for your continued support.
