And we're back....
It has been truly wonderful to have all the children back this week. Within half an hour, it was like they hadn’t been away and we were back to the routine of learning and enjoying being with friends. The children have been amazing and have adapted quickly to the new rules.
Thank you too, to all the parents, who adhered to social distancing and helped us have such a smooth start to the year - long may it continue!
A few messages for you for the start of the year - don’t forget if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Free School Meal Applications I know that some of you have had a change in your financial circumstances during lockdown. If you have been made redundant, lost your job or money is an issue at the moment, please consider applying for free school meals for your child. To apply for free school meals, please follow the link. https://www.staffordshire.gov.uk/Education/Educational-awards-benefits/FreeSchoolMeals/Apply-online.aspx Please get in contact if there is anything we can do to help.
Oak National Academy If you child has to self-isolate and can not attend school then we will be sending a work pack home. We will also ask the children to complete specific activities from the Oak National Academy at https://classroom.thenational.academy. This will ensure that the children do not fall behind their peers. The class teacher will also be in touch to complete a wellbeing check.
Meet the Teacher Normally at the start of the year, we invite parents into school to meet the teachers. Obviously, with the current Covid restrictions, this can’t happen. Instead each of the teachers and myself will create an introductory video, and these will be uploaded onto the website next Friday. These will be full of useful information, so please look out for them.
Clubs For the first half of the Autumn Term, clubs will run a little bit differently than normal. We have decided to focus on Maths and English Clubs this half term, to help children plug any gaps. Please sign up for clubs at the office on a Monday morning. (All clubs run to 4:15pm)
Tuesday: Phonics for Years 1 and 2 & Maths for Years 3 and 4
Wednesday: Reading for Years 5 and 6 & Maths for Years 1 and 2
Thursday: Reading for Years 3 and 4 & Maths for Years 5 and 6
Timings at the end of the day: To help stagger the end of the day, and to avoid too many people on the playground at any one time, it is important that parents keep to the timings. Do not arrive early as this causes congestion. If you have a child in Reception or Key Stage 1, arrive just before 3:10pm. If you have a child in Nursery or Key Stage 2 arrive at 3:15pm. Please use the car park gates to ease congestion. Do not block exit ways or stay longer on the playground than necessary. Thank you.
Thank you to everyone for such a positive start to the school year and for your support in these strange times. Although, we can’t have parents in school at the moment, it is still important to me, that you feel part of the school community, so please keep in touch.
Kind regards,
Miss Goodson
