Rumours and Reassurances

Rumours and Reassurances for Week 5

I hope you all had a restful Easter break and welcome to our very first remote summer term!

We’ve all had to adapt to new ways of working, so I wanted to take the opportunity to say what an amazing job you’re doing supporting your child’s wellbeing and learning during this time.

It’s definitely been a strange and challenging time, so it’s ok if you and your child feel wobbly and worried at the moment. We’re here for you every step of the way, as we figure this all out together. Remember, if you have any concerns about helping your child learn or you need any other support from the school, please let us know by contacting your child’s teacher using the website or contacting me on headteacher@winshillvillage.staffs.sch.uk.

We miss the children very much, but we must follow the government’s guidance to keep everyone in our community safe. So, we’re carrying on with provision for vulnerable pupils and children of critical workers at school, and using the website so that the children can access work.

We can’t say yet when we’ll be able to open the school fully, but be rest assured that we’ll continue doing our utmost to keep your child learning and our school community connected.

I know that there a lot of rumours floating around in the press about when school will open again, I have heard May, June, the Summer holidays and September! The truth is nobody knows at this point, it is all press speculation.  We don’t know when we do open, whether it will be for all children, all the time – it might be different shifts, staggered starts or only for specific groups.  Again, nobody knows!

Let me reassure you that when we are told that we can open, I will contact you directly to let you know the plans and precautions that we will be putting in place.  Avoid listening to media speculation or social media gossip, when school can open again, I will open.  Be prepared though, that it might not be “normal” for a while.

Please do not worry about your child “falling behind” – all the children will be in the same boat, and the staff will work hard to support your child, to get to where they need to be.  Up to this point, the children have ‘only’ missed 14 school days.  They will be fine.

Please let your children know that all the staff at Winshill Village are missing them and are looking forward to seeing their happy, smiling faces again very soon.

Let’s get cracking with our summer term!

Keep safe
