Year 6 - SATS Revision - Easter

Hello Year 6!

I hope you are having an amazing Easter so far. Below you will find some activities to complete to support you in preparation for your SATS. You can find a list of useful websites, some arithmetic and reasoning activities, some grammar challenges, some reading comprehension and some spelling activities. You can complete the activities in your revision books then bring them back into school after the half term holidays. I would love to see all the fantastic work you have produced!

Arithmetic

Activity 1: Percentages

Below, you will find some percentage of amount questions. If you need support with finding a percentage of a given amount, watch the video below.

Activity 2: Dividing and multiplying decimals

Below you will find some questions linked to multiplying and dividing decimals. Remember, you can use derived facts to support you with this. If you need to multiply or divide by 10, 100 or 1,000 you can use a place value grid to support you if needed.

Activity 3: Adding and subtracting fractions

Below you will find some questions linked to adding and subtracting fractions. There are a mixture of questions, some are mixed numbers, some have different denominators and some have the same denominator. Remember, if the fraction has the same denominator, we just add or subtract the numeratorrs and the denominator stays the same. If the denominators are different, we use the butterfly method. Activity 4: Fraction, decimal and percentage equivalence

Reading

Below you will find four different texts and questions. There are two fiction texts and 2 non-fiction texts. Set yourself a timer of 20 minutes to complete the reading of one text and the set of questions for that particular text. Remember to follow the steps below.

Spelling

Below you will find four different spelling activities. Each one looks at a spelling pattern we have already learnt in school.

Activity 1: Words ending in ably and ibly

Activity 2: ei and ie words

Remember, we use ie when the sound is ee. We use ei after the letter c.

Activity 3: Silent letters

Remember, k is usually accompanied by n, m is usually accompanied by b, w is usually accompanied by r.

Activity 4: Homophones

Remember, a homophone is a word which sounds the same but is spelt differently and has a different meaning.

Grammar

Below you will find four different grammar activities.

This refers to nouns, adjectives, prepositions, verbs etc.

Activity 2: Prefixes and suffixes

A prefix comes before the word and the rule is just add. Do not add or drop any letters

A suffix goes at the end of the word and can change the tense and word class of a word.

Some examples of clauses include: relative clauses, main clauses and subordinate clauses.
