Good morning Year 3. Here is our final week of Maths home learning as next week you will all be returning to the classroom. I can’t tell you how much I am looking forward to having you all back in the classroom and finally being to able to learn together again. Our zoom this week will be on Monday 1st March but at the slightly later time of 1:30pm as we will be being joined by the Year One children. I would like you to have something that you have completed at home ready to share with the rest of the class. This could be a piece of work that you have completed from the learning blogs, or something that you have made at home.

Our focus for this week will continue to be measure and as previous weeks your final session will be arithmetic.

Monday 1st March:

Warm up - Can you use these 3 digit numbers to make these correct?

327 723 372 273 732 237 ____<____<____<____<____<____

814 148 418 841 184 481 ____>____>____>____>____>____

Using bar models to represent addition and subtraction word problems.

Once you have completed the lesson, you can move onto the reasoning problem. Remember to answer the question, prove it and explain. Use a bar model to support your reasoning.

Using Bar models to represent multiplication and division problems.

Once you have completed the lesson, you can move onto the reasoning problem. Remember to answer the question, prove it and explain. Use a bar model to support your reasoning.

Drawing bar models to represent multiplication and division problems.

Once you have completed the lesson, you can move onto the reasoning problem. Remember to answer the question, prove it and explain. Draw each calculation as a bar model to help you work out the answer.

Thursday 4th March:

Warm up - Can you work out how long these films are (in hours and minutes) based on when what time they started and finished?

The Lion King 6:00pm - 7:58pm

Spiderman Far From Home 3:45pm - 5:55pm

Hairspray 10:30am - 12:07pm

Rounding numbers to the nearest hundred.

Timestables:

Today we looking at multiplication and division fact families. We will be using our multiplication facts to help us solve division problems. For examples, I know that 4x5=20 so that must mean that 20 ÷ 4 = 5 or 20÷5=4

I would like you to solve the following ‘ I know that’ questions by completing the answer to the multiplication calculation and then writing the corresponding division facts.

1) I know that 3x6=_____ so

2) I know that 4x8=_____ so

3) I know that 9x6=_____ so

4) I know that 7x4=_____ so

5) I know that 12x8=____ so

Now can you create your five of your own fact families using the 3, 4, 6 or 8 timestables. I have included an example to show you show to set it out.

3x5=15 5x3=15 15÷3=5 15÷5=3
