Hello Year 2,
I hope you have had a lovely weekend. It was great to speak to you last week and hear all about your learning at home. I cannot wait to see you on our class zoom this week. This is on Thursday morning at 11am.
Below is your maths learning for this week. Have a go at each lesson and remember to send photos of your work to me using my email address on the class page. I will be expecting at least one email from you per week so that I can see your amazing work.
Please remember that any worksheets do not need to be printed, they are there to support and guide you and you can have a go at these activities on a piece of paper at home.
Here is our Maths Key Vocabulary Glossary for Year 2. This can also be found on our Class Page under the Maths Heading. The glossary will outline the key vocabulary we use in our year group as well as providing a definition and example for each.
Well done to George, Millie and Keita who have all moved up levels on TT Rockstars this week, you have been working so hard! Throughout this week I would like you to try and spend 15 minutes a day on TT Rockstars again. I would like you to set yourself a realistic challenge of how many levels you think you can move up throughout this week. I will be checking again on Friday to see who has improved throughout the week. Let’s see if most of the class can move up at least 1 level!

Starter - Look at the image of the coins below. How many different ways can you make 78p? Draw the coins in different ways to represent 78p.

Starter - Today I would like you to think about the number 7. What equations could you write to get the answer 7? I would like you to use addition and subtraction to help you with this. Your equations could also have 2 steps for example - 20-10-3=7. Write down all of the different ways that you can think of.

Lesson 8 - Comparing and sorting 2D shapes

Starter - Have a look at the missing number bonds to 20 below and see how quickly you can fill in the gaps.

Lesson 9 - Describing the position of an object
Extra task - draw a picture (whatever you want) and then write sentences about the position of different objects on it. For example - The dog is to the left of the tree. The ball is in front of the boy.
