Reception home learning Tuesday 9th February 2021

Here we are again! I hope you are all doing OK and managing to keep busy. I’m really looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible for our zoom call today at 1:30pm. I know it is very strange to see each other like this, but I really do love to see you all and to hear a little bit about how you are and what you have been doing.

Phonics:

  • Quick write of phase 2 tricky words. Watch the video to check for correct letter formation. Practise writing each tricky word until you can write it by memory and don’t have to copy it. Can you write the simple sentence ‘I go to the shop.’

  • Next we are going to practise writing some of our phase 3 phonemes. Watch the video and copy the sounds down.

  • Can you write words with those phonemes in them.

  • Finally we will write simple sentences using some of the phonemes we have practised.

Literacy:

Maths:

  • Tuesday’s maths lesson with Oak National Academy on shape.

  • Collect together 3 or 4 small toys in different sizes. Use cubes, pasta shapes, paper clips, pegs (or anything else that you have several of the same size) and measure your toys. Can you put them in order from smallest to largest? How many cubes tall are they?

Topic: The three Billy Goats Gruff.

  • Make your own play dough, then use it to make your own ugly troll and the 3 goats. (You could add green food colouring to make green play dough)

  • Paint a picture of the troll or the goats.

  • Make a boat for a goat to cross the river. Use any re-cycling materials. Does your boat float or sink?

Physical Development:

  • Try this brain gym dance. Scroll down to the ‘purple people eater ‘ dance! We tried it in school and liked it!

  • If you can get outside, play on your bike or scooter

ICT:

  • Play this game on topmarks Bobbie Bear. Children have to work out how many different combinations of clothes can be made. You can make this more difficult by using the customize button to add items of clothing or choosing new game. This game helps children to consider different possibilities when solving a problem.

Story:

  • The ugly duckling traditional story.
