Nursery Home Learning- 1st to 5th March
Hello Little Winners and Little Stars!
We hope that you have had a good week and enjoyed our work on We’re going on a Bear Hunt? It was lovely to see your work! It was also great to hear that we will all be back together soon learning in school together. We can’t wait to have you back!
On Thursday this week, it is World Book Day. Our whole day will be dedicated to celebrating reading and our love of books. Together, with the rest of the John Taylor Multi-Academy Trust (JTMAT), we will be taking part in shared activities, ideas and competitions. We will be sharing pictures of activities completed both in school and at home. Please visit the JTMAT World Book Day website. Click here to access. Be sure to send photographs of your work to your teacher so that we can share on the JTMAT website and enter the competition! Send all pictures and work to your teacher’s email address in the usual way.
On the JTMAT World Book Day website, you will be able to see staff from our school and other schools in our MAT, sharing their favourite books with you. You are able to access your World Book Day voucher here too, just click on the image below.
This week we will be looking at The Enormous Turnip. You can ask an adult to read the story to you here, or watch the video below:
The Enormous Turnip is all about helping each other. The smallest of creatures made the difference to help pulling the turnip. The following activities aim to get you to think about this:
Explore vegetables- What vegetables do you like to eat? Vegetables are really good for us and help to keep us healthy. Have a good look at some raw vegetables. Use you 5 senses to explore these vegetables.
Mark making with vegetables- Do you have a carrot or a piece of celery? Dip the end in paint and use it to make marks on paper. Can you draw lines? Circles? Dots?
What’s in your toy box?- Look at the toys that you have and think about how they work. Which ones do you push? Maybe a car or a button on a certain toy? Which toys do you pull? Maybe one of your toys has a cord to pull or some string that you pull it along with?
Visit our Geography Fieldwork Week blog for more activities to complete this week. Don’t forget, we love to see your learning so why not email us a photo to ce.williams@win.jtmat.co.uk.
Phonics
This week we will be continuing to think about what sounds words start with. Can you think of words that start with these sounds?
s a t p i n m d g o c k
This week, we are are going to find words that start with e, u and r. What can you find that starts with these sounds? Why not have a game of I spy with your family?
Maths
What is a pattern? A pattern is a repeated design. Can you find a pattern in your house? It may be on some wall paper or on an item of clothing.
Using toys, blocks or everyday objects like forks and spoons, can you create your own pattern?
Draw a snake and colour a pattern on its back. You could use paint, sticky paper or crayons. I would love to see your patterns so why not send us a photo?
Can you make a sound pattern? You might pat your knees and then clap. Repeating this will create a pattern. Knees, clap, knees, clap, knees, clap… what comes next? How else can you make sounds with your body? Stamp your feet, click your fingers, rub your hands. Use this body percussion to make up your own sound pattern.
Stay Active
Story Time
As always, we would encourage parents to read with their children every day. Little and often from an early age will help to develop their understanding, love of books and give you time to spend together. If you would like to borrow any books, please get in touch.
We hope that you have a good week and look forward to being back together soon.
Stay safe and have fun!
