Welcome to Year 3!
Well, what an amazing start to the year we have had. It has been lovely getting to know you all and beginning our learning journeys. I am looking forward to teaching you this year and what a year we have to come.
Our topic for this term is Chocolate and our class text will be Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We will be finding out about where chocolate comes from and how it is made, designing and making our own chocolate bars and learning about states of matter. We will be finding out about the Amazon Rainforest, learning all about the Mayan Civilisation and recreating some Mayan art.
Our PE days will be Monday and Thursday. The children will need to come to school dressed in their PE kits - shorts or jogging bottoms/leggings, PE t-shirt, school jumper or cardigan and trainers.
The children again have the chance to take part in our Reading Race. Any reading they do at home can be recorded in the boxes which have been stuck into the reading diaries. Once each grid is complete the children will receive a certificate. You can record a maximum of 2 reads a day and please remember to initial the boxes. Have fun reading!!
TTRockstars logins have been stuck into the children’s reading diary for them to use at home. They will access it in school at least once a week, however it would be great to see them participating at home also.
I will send our weekly spelling pattern home every Friday. This will be stuck into their reading diary and will include a challenge for them to complete over the weekend.
I look forward to meeting you all soon.
Mrs Dickerson
