Pupil Premium
Purpose
At Winshill Village Primary & Nursery School, we are committed to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential. The government provides additional funding, known as the Pupil Premium Grant, to publicly-funded schools in England to help improve outcomes for disadvantaged pupils.
Research shows that children from disadvantaged backgrounds may face additional barriers to learning and, on average, do not achieve as well as their peers. The Pupil Premium enables us to put extra support in place to help these children make good progress and achieve strong outcomes.
Eligibility
Pupil Premium funding is allocated each year based on the number of pupils recorded in the following groups:
-
Pupils who are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM)
-
Looked-after children and previously looked-after children
-
Pupils with a parent currently serving in the armed forces (Service Premium)
