My Child At School App
The cost of a school dinner is £3.00 per day.
You can pay for school dinners through the My Child At School app.
Free School Meals at Winshill Village
Parents and carers who receive certain benefits may be entitled to claim Free School Meals for their children. This applies to any child registered at a Staffordshire school who would normally be in school at lunchtime. Choosing school meals is a great way to make sure your child enjoys a healthy, balanced lunch every day – while also saving you time and money.
Even if your child prefers not to have a school meal, it is still important to make a claim if you are eligible. This is because every successful application provides the school with additional funding, which directly benefits all pupils.
Free School Meals for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2
All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are automatically entitled to free school meals, regardless of family income. You do not need to apply for this entitlement.
However, if you do meet the eligibility criteria for Free School Meals, we encourage you to register your claim with Staffordshire County Council. For every child registered, the school receives extra Pupil Premium funding, which we use to raise achievement and provide additional opportunities for our pupils.
By applying, even if your child is already receiving universal free school meals, you are helping to ensure that our school – and your child – continues to benefit from this valuable funding.
Apply Online for Free School Meals
You can apply online for Free School Meals if you meet the low income criteria set by Staffordshire County Council.
Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are automatically entitled to Universal Free School Meals, regardless of income. However, if you do not meet the low income criteria and your child is in these year groups, you will need to contact the school directly to arrange their meals.
How to Apply
-
Complete the online application form through Staffordshire County Council.
-
Once you have submitted your application, you will be given a confirmation page. You can print this and provide it to school so that meals can begin immediately.
-
If you are unable to print, don’t worry – your application will still be processed online, but you will need to wait until the council notifies the school before your child’s free meals can start.
Menus
At Winshill Village, we operate a three-week rolling menu to provide children with a variety of healthy and enjoyable meal choices. Each day, pupils can select from a main dish, a vegetarian main dish with accompaniments, or choose a jacket potato or sandwich option. All meals must be pre-ordered through the My Child At School (MCAS) App by 12:00pm on the Friday before the week they are required.
